So, you’ve just received your image files from the Kodak Colorplus roll you sent to us the other day for processing and scanning. We hope that you’re happy with the images, they are part of your memories after all. If the photos did turn out good, have you ever wondered what else can be done to further elevate your film photography experience? Do you enjoy taking photos with your phone wherever you go and notice that you struggle to find that one specific photo of an adorable cat you took a couple months ago inside your gallery that has ten thousand images? Do you have experience getting your photos printed out from time to time because you love collecting them and storing them in one album but you find yourself going to different shops each time for printing purposes because you’re somehow just not satisfied with the print quality of the previous printing shop you went to?

Good news! We are happy to announce that we have launched our high quality Silver Halide photo printing service. Here at Filmlab, we strive to be the one-stop station for all your film developing and photo printing needs. Whether you need film roll purchasing, film developing, negative scanning, high quality photo printing, we’ve got you covered!

Photo Requirement (Image Media, Aspect Ratio, Image Resolution etc)

NO REQUIREMENTS ON THE IMAGE TYPE. Doesn’t matter if it's photos taken with a film camera, digital camera or even smartphone, we can print them out just fine. If it’s photo printed out from the images scanned from your film roll, we can also send the film negatives and the photo prints together back to you in one shipment so there will only be a one time postage fee. (RM10 for West Malaysia/ RM18 for East Malaysia)


If the photo's aspect ratio is not proper, our printer software will auto crop the image. To prevent accidental cropping, please try to manually crop the image according to the aspect ratio of size you desire to print for example, 3:2 for 4R, 4:3 for 6R etc. Please refer to the images below to see how to crop image into proper aspect ratio on mobile device and PC.

When it comes to photo printing, image resolution plays a very important role. The higher resolution the image is, the sharper the photo will be while lower resolution images will yield fuzzy, blurry and jaggy photo prints. Try to zoom in on your image to see if the details are visible before selecting it for printing. A general guideline is to select file above 1~2mb for small size printing and above 6~8mb for mid to large size printing. Always use original file to ensure highest quality print, avoid using images sent or received from chat app such as Whatsapp due to built in file compression.

Instruction

  • Please upload the photos you want to print onto a Google Drive/Dropbox folder. Please make sure the folder share option is set to public and paste the link inside the box below so that we can access the photos.
  • If you would like to print out images in various different photo size, please create 2 sub folders with the desired print size as folder name (ie: 4R folder, 8R folder) and carefully sort out the photos into the correct folders. For more than 1 print of the same photo, please rename the image file name (ie: 0001_print2X, 0002_print3X) so that we can better understand the instruction.
  • Afterward please calculate the total amount of photos that need to be printed then tick the proper option and fill up the boxes with the corresponding amount. If the total price is correct, please proceed with payment and share the order ID and payment slip to the Whatsapp Number/Email Address provided.

  1. We use professional Silver Halide minilab printer for our photo printing service just like good old times. Silver halide printing is a traditional photographic process that uses light-sensitive paper coated with silver halide crystals, typically silver chloride or silver bromide, embedded in a gelatin emulsion layer. When exposed to light through a negative or digital file, these crystals undergo a chemical reaction just like film processing! During development, they are reduced to metallic silver, creating the image. This method is celebrated for its vibrant colors, sharp details, and natural skin tones, making it the number one choice among professional and fine art photographers.
  1. We use genuine photo paper and chemical for our photo printing service. These photo papers are optimized specifically for silver halide printing. Additionally, the paper we use are archival grade, therefore the photo prints can last a very long time and are scratch resistance to a certain degree.
  1. Before the printing process, we will help to crop and adjust the color tone of the photos if we deem it necessary. For example if the image you provided is too blue-ish, we will try to tone down the blue level or if the image is a little dark, we will increase the brightness so that the photo prints look more balanced once printed out. This process is done via the official software of the printer.
